Inspiring Change and Embracing Freedom: The Resilience of Maj Toure
Maj Toure, the founder of Black Guns Matter, has made significant contributions to urban communities in Philadelphia through his organization’s free firearms training and safety courses. His remarkable work has resonated with diverse audiences across the country, transcending age, gender, race, and political affiliations. His ability to connect with people is evident during his captivating speeches at various events, including those I was fortunate enough to experience firsthand, at the 2021 #TakeHumanAction tour in Fairfax, VA, and the recent 2023 LPF convention.

Maj’s commitment to empowering individuals has come with continued challenges, something those of us in the libertarian community have come to expect. Maj was the guest speaker for Tom Woods School of Life this week; during the broadcast, he was unexpectedly detained by the police while on camera and reportedly arrested for carrying a concealed weapon without a license. This unfortunate incident, combined with continual deplatforming on his various social media accounts, shows the hostile opposition he faces from those who seek to suppress the empowerment of regular folks. Despite these setbacks, Maj’s spirit remains unbroken, evident in his determination to always rebuild and continue his mission.
In a recent series of tweets, Maj hinted at a potential 2024 presidential bid as a Libertarian, which may have drawn further attention from his opposition; however, I strongly believe that his arrest will only serve to amplify Maj’s resolve to overcome any obstacles standing in his path. His unwavering determination and ability to capture his audiences’ hearts and minds make him an unyielding force for positive change.

On a personal note, I would like to be so bold as to suggest a potential solution to Maj. If Pennsylvania becomes too inhospitable for the Black Guns Matter mission, Florida will eagerly welcome him with open arms. As someone who recently made the leap from the hostile COVID mandates in New York City, I can promise that in Florida, you will find a community of people that champion personal freedoms; we offer a warm, vibrant community of like-minded individuals. Whether you prefer the energy of city life or the tranquility of rural areas, Florida provides numerous options. The absence of state income tax and the imminent implementation of permitless carry show the progress the people have made in our push for individual liberty. If you do decide the time to leave Pennsylvania is upon you, consider the possibilities that Florida could hold for your continued Black Guns Matter endeavors. Also, regardless of what you do next, know that there are many of us who stand with you and support you.
To my dear readers, Maj’s impact is a testament to the power of advocacy and education. His consistent dedication to his cause continues to serve as an inspiration to us all. For those facing similar difficulties in less free environments (we all know which states and cities I’m referring to), consider the possibilities of relocating to states that provide more individual liberties.
